How to get stronger without getting hurt?

New research demonstrates that just going to the gym, doing sit-ups, or pumping weights, will not necessarily give you the health benefits your are looking for. Like most things, it is how you do it that makes the difference. User Friendly Pilates gives you the opportunity to discover how to train with the proper awareness and mental focus to get fit without getting hurt.

NEW! Pilates Foam Roller & Mini-ball Class
Wednesdays, 12:15-1:15pm, Sept. 15-Oct. 27, Seven Classes, $92 residents, $102 nonresidents-mats provided
Foam roller & ball exercises are fun and challenging. The roller and ball give you lots of stimulation and feedback, similar to massage.
The rounded surfaces make for a playful unpredictable ride that develops core muscles and improves balance.

NEW! Easy Walking: Discover Your Natural Stride
Wednesdays, 1:30-2:30pm, Sept. 15-Oct. 27, Seven Classes, $92 residents, $102 nonresidents-mats provided
Walking is rhythm and flow in action, and one of the best things you can do for your health. We explore Movement lessons that connect you to your feet and hips and get you back into the swing. Lessons done while lying, sitting, standing and walking.

User Friendly Pilates (Level I): Get Stronger Without Getting Hurt
Wednesdays, 5:45-6:45pm, Sept. 15-Oct. 27, Seven Classes, $92 residents, $102 nonresidents-mats provided
User Friendly Pilates (Level I) is about is about developing core strength and learning how to stretch and strengthen in a way that reduces the chance of injury. It is a mixed-level class, appropriate for those with experience, and also for those who are just beginning.

It is a little faster paced and more challenging than LEVEL I

About Ernie Adams
Ernie Adams is a Pilates Instructor and Feldenkrais® Movement Educator, with an extensive background as a professional dancer. He also has 17-years experience collaborating with physical therapists to treat orthopedic, neurological, dance and sports related injuries. He presents a safer way to learn Pilates. Ernie’s classes involve hard work, "feeling the burn", and also finding an easier way to get stronger without getting hurt. In addition to teaching at Albany and Kensington Community Centers, Ernie teaches classes for Kaiser, Oakland.
