Pilates for Dancers
(Workshop dates to be announced)
Stay lean
& strong without sacrificing flexibility and power. Pilates is
about fluid dynamic movement that does not use unecessary effort. It is
a method of
exercise designed to stretch and strengthen the body and engages your
deepest core abdominal, lumbar, and pelvic floor muscles. Developing
core strength gives you greater power and precision in movement and
helps protect your body from injury
"PILATES is a

Feldenkrais® for Dancers (Workshop
dates to be announced) If you dance Ball Room, Latin, Modern, Jazz, Ballet, or
Contact Improvisation and want to
improve technique, prevent injuries and uncover hidden potential,
this workshop is for you. Do you turn or leap better on one
side, always injure yourself in the same place, or feel you are not
symmetrically aligned? These common problems indicate overuse patterns
that interrupt rhythm and flow, cause wear and tear, and take pleasure
out of dancing. Feldenkrais for Dancers will give you more
intelligent and effective ways of using your body. We will explore
sophisticated ways to relate to your feet, free hips and knees, increase
core stability, and sharpen balance reactions.
"FELDENKRAIS®
MOVEMENT is not only for those with pain or injury. It helps the
sensory and movement systems in your body work together more optimally.
This improves coordination, wakes up your muscles and helps your body
respond effectively to the demands you place on it. I personally
began exploring Feldenkrais® in 1976 to enhance my ability as a
professional dancer. It opened up my movement possibilities, helped me
prevent injuries and gave me a healthier relationship to my body." -
